Do's and Don'ts for
Surgery
Things to
Do:
-
Eat a
healthy meal before 10:00 pm the night before surgery.
-
Shower
and wash your hair and all body areas the day of surgery.
-
Wear
loose fitting and easily removable clothing.
Do Not:
-
Do not
EAT or DRINK
anything after midnight the night before surgery or on the morning
of your surgery. Doing so will result
in the cancellation
of your surgery.
-
Do
not
take any ASPIRIN
or medication containing aspirin which includes Alka-Seltzer,
Empirin and Motrin for at least one week prior to and after
surgery. If you take blood thinning medication, you must
discuss going off the medication with your medical doctor.*

Do
not
wear any jewelry or make-up to the hospital.

Do not
forget to tell your doctor if you have a cold, sore throat or
fever.
-
Do not
smoke after midnight prior to surgery.
-
Do not
forget to bring any papers and/or reports that are necessary for
the surgical procedure.
-
Do not
forget that this will be a pleasant surgical experience, as long
as the DO'S and DON'TS are closely followed.
